I need a new engine for my Boston Whaler and found this 2006 Johnson 150 for sale. I have a few questions:
1. does this engine have a good reputation?
2. I need a 20 inch shaft and this has a 25 inch shaft. Can it be changed, what is the procedure?
3. They say it only has 150 hours but who knows. What would be a reasonable price for this engine.
4. I have a 1998 Evinrude on my boat now. Do all the controls etc bolt up to this motor?

Thanks,
I know inboards but the last outboard I owned was my fathers 1953 Evinrude 25hp big twin.

If it has a 25 inch shaft, forget it. More trouble than what it's worth. Look for something else.

A Boston Whaler with a 20" transom and you are talking about putting 150HP on it??

What model is that Boston Whaler??

As it turns out I need the 25 inch shaft anyway. It is a boston whaler outrage 18. The engine on it now does not have any id plate and I was going by the ID on the title but I think it is wrong.

An Outrage 18 and a JohnnyRude 150 make a wonderful package, sammidog.

Good luck. :)
