2006 B3 large prop shaft seal

Just removed my props for the season and had a bunch of fishing line that damaged the white plastic part of the seal. No water in oil.
​Is it possible to R&R this seal with the slide hammer technique like an outboard ?

No, that seal is a bear to remove even with the shaft removed.

What is it? Metal on metal ? What's the purpose of the white plastic ring on the seal ? Really don't want to pull the drive apart, especially when it's not leaking...yet

The plastic is there to protect the rubber seal inside. Depending on the age of your drive you can either have two seals (item 42)

The seal(s) are pressed in and take a special tool to get them out. Here is where I rebuilt my drive and replaced the seals

Not seeing what you have, if it was just a bit of plastic missing and no leaks I would just leave it be and keep close eye on it.

More than a bit. The plastic ring broke off nice and clean. Be nice to be able to stick another piece of plastic on there. Apparently no line cutter available for this drive.
​I can see how the next time I pick up line it will be damaging to the sealing area
