Hi, My name is George I live in NSW Australia.
I have been reading a lot of post but I can't find my answer.
The problem I am having with my 2005 3.0L mercruiser TKS with alpha one gen 2 drive is my rear engine mounts need to be replaced can I remove the mounts in place or do I need to remove the whole motor from the boat.

Thanks.

Pull the drive, pull the rear mounts if you have room. You will need to realign the motor

Welcome
Agree you need to remove the motor to replace the rear mounts

My question is what makes you think they do need replaced?

usually the rear mounts have collapsed and that affects the engine alignment. pull the drive, pull the engine, set on ground, burn /melt out the old mount and spacer. I machined this to install the new mounts but some threaded rod ,socket and washers can do the same. Or have them pressed in at a shop

Kind of odd from them to fail that soon, they normally last for the life of the boat. A 3.0 just doesn't produce that much torque

Does the alignment bar go in easy?
Have you tried tightening the bolts 38 ft-lb?
