2003 Evinrude 200hp Thermostat Caps

I guys:

Took an @$$ whupin getting the thermostat covers unscrewed yesterday. The threads were loaded up with some sort of deposit. Is there a way to prevent this in the future? I'm thinking some sort of lubricant to go on the treads of the cover. Boat is run in salt water and flushed after every use.

Clean the threads and sealing areas with a fine wire brush and coat them heavily with Evinrude Triple-Guard marine grease or other marine rated lube.
