03' 200 hp Optimax- 95 hours
Boat had been as running a little sluggish and idled a little rough the last few times out decided it was time to change plugs. Installed brand new NGK Iradium IZFR5G gapped at 0.30. Threw the muffs on and ran great at house, idled smooth.
First time out with new plugs I was dumped in the water and when I threw it into gear "Engine Malfunction" alarm appeared on my SmartCraft display(there was NO audible alarm though). The manual states "The bell and Engine Icon will appear to inform the driver that an engine problem occured".
I can not find anything on the web other than "take it to the shop" which I will most likely end up doing. However I would at least try to trouble shoot this first.
Could a bad cranking battery cause this alarm to go off? Are the plugs gapped correctly ? If not could this cause the alarm? Lastly, I did a quick check of the fuel filter while I was at it and realized that I had not tightened the fuel filter "cap" all the way snug. Could this also lead to the alarm.
Any help or insight would be appreciated!
