Can a 2002 tiller control, electric start 25 HP be run without a battery connection (i.e., operate soley with recoil start and tiller control) without damaging the charging system? My service manual says otherwise and I know I could remove the system alternator coils to facilitate this but could I also merely disconnect the coils from the rectifier without harming them during operation?
