2001 bayliner battery connection

I have a 2001 bayliner rendezvous 2109 model with 150 xr6 merc. The battery was disconnected and I am not sure which terminal to connect the strand (4 or 5 wires with 1 connector) of thin black wires to? Any help would be greatly appreciated

General rule of thumb is that black wires are GND or (-) and red wires are POSITIVE or (+). Depending on who wired the boat, that may or may not be true on your boat. Can you provide any more details?

Thank you for responding. Sorry about posting same question twice. There are 2 red cables that connect to the + terminal, one that is 2ga and one that is 6ga. There are 2 cables that connect to the - both are 6ga. The wires in question are 4 or 5 wires (black) all 16ga with one connector. Once I hook these up to the negative terminal a 2amp in line fuse that is wired into the main circuit breaker (outgoing side) blows immediately. Tank you for your help.

Having 4 or 5 wires (why don't you know exactly how many there are??) attached to one connector isn't the proper way to do things, so it would be no surprise that a previous owner ignored the usual color-coding also. You are going to have to trace those wires back to find out to what they're connected. They are probably connected to the positive leads of your accessories.

Thank you to those who have responded. The wires in question are a factory install and are to be hooked up to the negative terminal. They are ground wires for accessories. The fuse that kept blowing is for a float switch that has a faulty circuit
