Long time lurker, now reg'd newby. So I did normal annual maint last week, motor was fogged and put to bed last fall. New fuel, new fuel line tank to pumps, fuel filter, oil change, lube lower unit change. Had her out last weekend, seems to be missing ignition. Couple things I'm wondering...
New plugs were platnium, got the wrong ones but used them anyway. Issue? Wires are original, the coil connections are pretty rough. Tried a non-oem set, made things worse. Do I need the oem set on these?
The motor has always had a low speed sneeze too, it is carbed.
And as far as firing order goes, really dumb question! I assumed the cylinders are 1-4 top to bottom and wires are labeled accordingly (wire 1 top cylinder, wire 2 next one down, etc). I swear the wires were not installed number wise like this! I'm aware of the firing order (1-4, 2-3) so that's not the problem, it's the different resistance of the wires being installed correctly that's important.
I do have the correct normal style plug and an oem set of wires coming this week.
Thanks, great site!
