2001 5.0gi tbi idle question

Just looking for some information to compare my engines to . My question is on cold start up . My engines basically run between 7-800 hot or cold . Are these engines supposed to have a higher idle on cold start and then come down as they warm up ? Any input would be greatly appreciated !

No, the motors should idle the same rpm, cold or warm

My 5.0Gi PWTR from 1999 on initial start revs to 800 rpm for about 10 seconds and then slowly reduces down to 600 rpm over about a 60 seconds. I have always assumed the ECM (MEFI-3) was controlling it. Once there is any heat (even after 4 hours moored) in the engine she is steady at 600 rpm as per the manual.

My MEFI 3 when cold and first crank starts revs up to 800 or so but only does it for about one second, but also cranks for 2 to 3 seconds before start. When warm it starts so quick I don't think it makes a full revolution. This is a Merc
