Motor has started rubbing on starboard side when trimming up and down on two pieces in pic. Worse going up. I greased the area and that didn’t fix it. Looks to be about 1/16” of clearance on the port side. Maybe the motor hinge is wearing on port side and causing bottom of motor to tilt towards starboard? Thanks in advance.

I tightened up the nut on the tilt tube and that made a small improvement. Wondering if I need to replace the tilt tube bushings.

it sounds logical,
and you will see if there are other wore out parts when you take it apart

I saw a YouTube video that showed a lot of play when trimming if the bushings are worn and I don’t see that on mine. Now thinking that it might be related to me bumping the motor into the garage wall when backing in a couple weeks ago. Motor was trimmed up about 25% at the time. If that knocked it out of alignment, wondering if there is an easy way to get it back in alignment. If not, would grinding down the motor and/or bracket 1/16” to 1/8” where it rubs be a viable fix?

So now we hear the rest of the story.
finding what is bent to fix it right could get real involved.
and I have no idea how to go about it

10 minutes with an electric sander was enough to fix this issue.

you going to paint that area or just let it corrode.
good to hear it was an easy fix.

That area is aluminum and not in proximity to any other metals. Also not used in saltwater. So I didn’t think I had too much to worry about. But let me know if you think otherwise.
