Does my 2000 100hp yamaha four stroke send it's hour's to the meter by computer? It's a 2001 hour meter and it's reading 39.8hrs Is that how much is on my engine or that hour gauge?
it only counts hours when two conditions are met, one is key on power the other is an engine run(tach) signal.
if your tach has a mode and a set button its actually 2 hour meters, one is trip hours and can be reset the other is total hours and cannot be reset.
let me use a example, if I have a used motor with 39 hours. Then i put on a yamaha hour meter, will it read 0hrs or will the computer let the gauge know it has 39hrs on engine?
on that, and any other yamaha engine, it will set at 0.
total hours on any yamaha meter cannot be reset.
even if you change the ECU,which on the F100 doesnt clock hours anyway, the meter wont reset.
