MajB, the trailer has to be disconnected in order to get an accurate rate with any simplicity. Multi-section scales will give you a weight for each section with weight, which is a good means to get tongue weight if you straddle sections with the trailer. If you had 2300# while attached to the vehicle, you're either waaay overweight, or the scales were off. When speaking of gross weight, the weight of the trailer has to be computed in, also (the axle/tires are carrying that weight, too).

For a good read on trailer tires see<br />www.championtrailers.com<br />look in the tech articles section.<br />I towed my boat to the shop today, it tows so much better since I upgraded the tires, springs, axle, and added brakes a few years ago. I started out with a trailer that was probably undersized axle, spring and tire wise with no brakes. Once I knew how much the load was, I had an axle made to match and installed springs, tires and brakes that were matched to the load. Makes trailering much less stressful.

I'd say that from what I see,.......<br /><br />"Most" of the Boat, Motor, Trailer Combos that roll out of showrooms Nation Wide,...... Have that Very Problem..........
