Hi guys have a question and i know its been covered before but the product i have has not..

I am looking at pulling up the carpet in my sunray ss125 and am thinking about coating the floor and transom in a 2 part epoxy i have ( stonecore or stonehard) one of those companies. They do industrial floor coatings .. i have lots of this product and am assuming it would do aprfect job in the boat for a new coating and ti seal anything up that could have showen up over the years . the boat is in great shape and im looking at bringing an old speed and ski back to her glory.. Now would this product be ok ?... Is it worth it?... can i use it anywhere else ie.. The hull or top.. And only reason i say top is because my hull and top have those spider cracks in them... Any help very much apprehsiated

Never heard of the product. The main thing you need to be aware of is UV protection. Epoxy products typically do NOT have UV protection qualities and therefore are not suitable for Marine use except below deck in a protected environment. If the product, in fact does have good UV qualities then I see no reason not to use it. I would need a lot more information about the product to determine if it was suitable for use on your top cap.

Re: 2 part epoxy

hi...welcome to iboats.

what kind of product are we talking about here?

as far as the spider cracks... that is in the gellcoat, anything you put on there, will just crack again, as the gellcoat must be repaired.
there is no quck fix for that, other than to quickly repair the crazing (spider cracks) properly.

as far as the deck and transom goes... why does it need to be re coated?.... is it wearing thru?... or is this just an "insurance" step ?

You can also use West System epoxies available from West Marine boat stores, if you have one near by. They're a little pricey, but work well, come in small sizes and are readily available. You should be able to find them in most med-large US cities.

if you have cracks, you might consider a layer of cloth, with the resin. BTW - Normally it is fine to use a polyester resin on decks. They usually do not need the strength of the epoxy. Both types of resin will seal much better with a piece of cloth.....
