2 lips seal?

Do you think 2 lips with spring loaded bearing seal is better than 1 lip w/o spring? (I thought I saw Boaters World carry 3 lips too!)<br /><br />edited 4/7/06 10:52 PST/st

I prefer the 2 lip spring seals. But any seal is only as good as the spindle it's riding on...make sure it's absolutely perfectly smooth and clean...this is far more critical than the type of seal that's used.

Agreed! When I first pulled my hubs off to change the grease (after the first year), I found that the spindle had welding slag on it! It had worn off one of the seal lips, so thank goodness the trailer had two-lip seals. So with a cold chisel, emery cloth, and a new seal, I'm now good to go...

Agreed,... No Doubt About It.......<br /><br />A Rough Spindle is probably the #1 Most Common Problem,....for almost All trailer repairs,.....<br /><br />That and Over-Filling Bearing Buddies........<br /><br />They both spell Water Intrusion on the 1st Dunk................
