Boomyal: I used to be a dealer of Amsoil! I used it in everything that i owned and every product there was then, every product worked just as it said it would! Chainsaws, trimmers, blowers, lawnmowers, etc. etc.<br /><br />Let dealership laps because of devorce, moving etc! Still use synthetics in everything though!!<br /><br />Hasbeen

It is the HEAT that causes higher resistance over time, not the oil, in the case of synthetics.

Now OK - Boomyal and Hasbeen <br />According to you Amsoil is so good that I could use it like they say - 100:1 instead of 50:1 is this right ? Am I OK to say that with the Amsoil Synth. 2 Cycle oil you only need to mix at a ratio of 80:1 or 100:1 like they are saying in their web page ? <br /><br />Smoky

I would sure use 50:1 I wouldnt go by what amsoil says. Will they buy you a new motor when yours blows? At 100:1 your warranty wont. I know what your saying though. They say its that good, it may very well be. Does it have the TCW3 rating?

There are different Amsoil 2-cycle oils.<br />The Pre-Mix oil (ATC) is intended to be mixed at 100:1. You can mix it at 80:1 or 100:1 depending on your application. I have customers that use this in their racing engines at 100:1! Do not use the ATC in injector applications.<br /><br />The Amsoil injector/pre-mix oils (AIO, TCR, AIT) are intended for injector use or pre-mix at 50:1. DO NOT mix these at 100:1.<br /><br />The ATC, TCR, and AIO oils are all TC-W3<br /><br />Dave

I use Penzoil Marine at $9.99 a gallon I find it hard to beat. Its a synthetic blend. <br /> The Walmart oil is tempting, but I just dont know? The price is too good to be true.

Check the oil containers, if they do not have the NMMA TC-W3 logo on them, along with the certification number (R-***xx), then it is not an approved oil.

Ive in the past in an 85 HP Evenrude used amsoil at 100 to 1 and ran it a WOT on a bass boat almost all the time, and this engine had a gadzillion hrs on it when I got it and It ran like a raped ape! No problems ever, Never changed the plugs in the two years I owned it! The guy I sold it to went back to OMC oil and it blew up in six months! Like I said, it had a lot of hours on it anyway!! Klotz R-50 is the spec oil at all outboard drag boat association events.<br />I also hear that Redline oil is just as good.<br />Many (including me) run Penzoil Synthetic (not the blend) in hipo stuff with no problems and it's at walmart and academy for $20. It used to be called Ithasca Synthetic. <br /><br />I've heard many swear by Amsoil but also have heard of quite a few who didn't like the result when rebuilding especially at their claim 100:1 ratio.<br /><br />Way back when I used Walmart and didn't have a problem but the question was which is the best.<br />Gotta go with Klotz or Redline on that one.

Sorrydog,<br /><br />Could it be possible that those using Amsoil 100:1 and blown motor - were not using the good type of Amsoil ? like may be they were using the Injector type at 100:1 pre-mix which is not recommended ?<br /><br />Smoky

I dunno.<br /><br />I'm not trying to rag on Amsoil cus I don't know much about it.<br /><br />I do know that Klotz is damm fine stuff because quite a few O/B race sanctioning bodies require it.
