2.5 mercury need help

Hi fellas , I have a 2016 2.5 Mercury 4stroke that I got from my father in law , it ran ok for him but then stopped working with maybe 2 hours on it , I cleaned and carb and put a new fuel pump on. It’s getting plenty of spark but when I start it up it will idle fine then speed up some then when I throttle it up it just bogs and sputters. Can’t seem to figure it out , carb is definitely clean as can be and new fuel pump is working fine. Any help would be much appreciated.

I’m afraid it’s a common issue for these particular Engines to have this issue. 99% of the time, as a result of laying them on their side (even the correct side). They just seem to take oil from the sump up into the carb, when laying on their side. Otherwise, not a bad engine.

Thanks for the input , any way to clear it out of the carb? I had it off just a day or so ago and didn’t see any oil in the carb and didn’t smoke like it had any oil.

You’ll need to take it off and have a proper clean I’m afraid
