I've got a 17 foot champion bass boat with a 2.0 150 mercury on it. I have a laser 2 23 pitch prop on her. She runs 42 mph at 5800 rpms with two grown men and all tackle in it. When im alone she plains out quickly and gets up to about 48 mph. It uses alot of gas too much i think. My question is this what is the best prop for this boat. I know its working hard cause its slow to get out the hole with two people in it but when im alone its fine. When i got the boat it didnt have a prop on it im trying to find the best one for it. Thanks

Re: 2.0 150 mercury help

The Champion is a fairly heavy hull and I suggest you try a small hub 4 blade as the extra cavation will let engine "spin up" and the 4 blades will give you better lift and handling. Try a Merc,Power Tech or Solas brand..

Skeet, The RPM, speed and pitch you offer indicate a large prop slip (>30%). That doesn't sound correct. At 5800 RPM, that boat should hit 50+ MPH.

I recommend you doublecheck tach and speed accuracy.

I have a Merc 2.0L V6 motor on a lighter boat, so I do have some experience, in this matter.
