1999 Evinrude 50 hp four stroke

I'm restoring a 1948 16 foot runabout and need an engine. I have a chance to purchase a 1999 Evinrude 50 hp four stroke. I am somewhat familiar with four strokes but not of this vintage. I like their fuel economy and how quiet they are. Is this year model as quiet and fuel efficient as the newer models. Is it as reliable as the newer models. Lastly, I don't think you can answer this question but the boat/motor I'm considering is a 15 footer, will the all the cables be long enough. I'm on a budget and trying to keep within it.

It is a SUZUKI built machine.----Not much different than ones they build today.
