1999 225hp johnson vro pump questions

I just purchased a 1999 Ranger with a Johnson 225. Runs beautiful, but to eliminate any future catastophies should I change my vro pump due to the age of the motor or is the one on it more reliable than the older versions

You should have the newer OMS pump, just make sure the alarms all work.
I wouldn't change it unless it leaks or goes weak.

I agree with jonesg. If the system is working properly, you couldn't ask for any better. You may want to mark your oil tank level with a piece of tape just to confirm oil usage if it is not obvious.
