1998 evinrude intruder 150hp

I am having problems with my motor after sucking up some mud it is pumping lots of water through tell tale buts will not go past 2200 rpms it starts running rough and missing

Is the motor overheating? You might run it for a while and put your hand on the block. Motor should be equally hot on both sides, and you should be able to keep your hand on the block for a few seconds. if it is overheating, the S.L.O.W. system will kill spark to three cylinders and limit speed to 2200 RPM or so.

If it is not overheating, check overheat sensors on both heads for proper function.

thanks chris motor is not overheating so can i unplug the sensors to see if that works if not how do i check them

Temp Sensors should ground when motor overheats. You may check them with an ohmmeter. Also, if you disconnect them, and motor revs up, they are likely bad
