Hey all I am still in the hunt for a family boat. I came across a nice 98 cobalt 220 with the 350 Volvo GS engine in it. I am not familiar with these engines any input for me? It does have the dual prop out-drive. The boat is in very nice condition.

How much HP in the 350 GS?
What is maintenance like?
Is it carb or fuel injected?
Are they good engines?
it has 700 hours - what is the longevity?
Any other details you can send my way would be great. This boat is 4 hours away, I like the style and condition seems nice but I need to get some details figured out before committing to a drive.

I can answer some but not all questions.

What is Maintenance like? Pretty much like a Mercruiser or any other IO. Change engine oil, filter, and drive gear lube at end of season. Proper winterization. If it hasn't had one, a full tune up would be in order. Depending on use, an engine alignment annually, check condition of all bellows. If it's not know when bellows were changed last, change them now.

Are they good engines? Yes, IF it was maintained properly. That engine is GM 350 cubic inch block, guts and heads, been around forever. And for longevity, again, it all depends on how the previous owner(s) took care of it.

If the boat is 4 hrs away have the seller send you a bunch of pictures including the outdrive so you can see if it's a single prop or a duoprop.
