Well after leaving the boat at the repair shop for 4 weeks to resolve ANY issues it may have we took it out this past weekend to the coast and it acted really odd. I am somewhat "outboard knowledgeable" but by no means an expert so I may have issues that are related. First, the boat sat for 6 mos without being run hence the reason for taking it to the shop, but it has always been cold natured since removing the VRO and I have become used to that. It started ok at the ramp and ran good for about 20 minutes until we reached our fishing spot. After sitting for 45 minutes it was hard to start and didn't want to idle so I was using the choke from the key switch to keep it idling. The more I ran it the worse it got, as far as restarting, and soon developed a low speed miss. If it sat for 30 + minutes it would start right away but only idle a few seconds and die, then it was extremely difficult to restart and eventually did not restart and we had to be towed in. I also noticed the bulb was not staying hard the longer we ran it and it wasn't responding to the high idle lever. Supposedly the mechanic "cleaned" the carbs and ran the engine for an hour on muffs and told me it was good to go. I questioned the carbs condition since it sat so long and he said they were ok and that the motor just needed to be run. Another fisherman at the ramp commented that it may not be fuel but electrical and I did notice the tach quit working within 10 minutes of running but wasn't bothered with that because we there to fish. I had NO alarms when the motor was running so I ruled out t'stats or temp sensors, but am really confused now and not wanting to take it back to the shop and get charged another $300 for nothing, any HELP would be greatly appreciated as we had planned on going fishing again in a few weeks.
