trying to help a GF's son.
tilt/trim motor runs, does exert pressure when trimming down...will not trim up even when manually trying to help it go up. Worked last year.
I tried the bleeding ritual, as much as my back could tolerate. Also, trimming down the motor sounds normal. When trimming up however, it sounds like it gets "weaker" and multiple up/down tries results in the motor shutting off, then it resets. Internal limit switch?
Is it safe to say that the problem is in the trim cylinder seals?

and there is excessive play at the top of the motor's swivel bracket. That'd be the upper bearing , correct?
THAT looks like a major disassembly...?

My first thought is the battery holding 12.6 v or above ? Sounds like reservoir nay not be full, air lock, or pump going bad.

Voltage Drop somewhere between the Up Relay and the Motor

On one of my Inline 6s, there was a lot of Play, that at first looked like the it might be Swivel Bracket, turned out the Upper Motor Mounts had loosened. Powerhead had to come off to tighten and Locktite them.

the battery is good.
I did the fluid check, air lock procedure. I had to use the manual release to lift the motor up. Some fluid came out when I did that....fluid was added. No amount of lifting, adding fluid, bleeding, etc. fixed it. No sign of any assist in lifting from the system.
First time i've done this.
was just debating whether a seal kit (if available) is all it needs or the whole assembly is bad.

I can see the movement at the top of the swivel bracket (the "round" tube) Looks like a big deal to get to that bearing.
Up selection initially the motor sounds normal, a few seconds later it sounds like it is bogging down.
I will check for a drop.
Down selection sounds normal for as long as the switch is pressed.

all of this is new territory for me.
