I have a 1996 johnson 115hp outboard on a 1994 godfrey hurricane. The problem I am having is the motor fails to start. I had it on the water 1 day and it over heated. Come to find out the guy who "built" the motor did not replace the waterpump. I replaced the waterpump and read that the cdi can sometimes be affected, so I replaced that as well. I have also heard that the stator can have an effect on the staring issue as well. What I am looking for is what to check next. I have about 119 to 120 compression in all 4 cylinders. New spark plugs. New cdi. New waterpump. I am currently at a loss on what to check next..... please help

J115PLSSB Is the model number. After it over heated it start back up long enough for me to load it. Ever since then I can't get it to fire. The batteries are brand new oddesey batteries. Plug gap I am not sure of. I didn't check those since it ran fine before.
