I have a 1996 Evinrude Intruder 175 GLED that has some possible electrical problems driving us nuts.
Any given day you can go out to the lake and motor may or may not start. Just this morning I tried to start up on dry land to make sure it turned over and started. It would crank, but not start. Wiggled ignition switch wires under the dash, fired off. Dropped it in the water and it started. Idled to shore to go park truck and it died while idling in. Maybe ran for 3 minutes. Messed with wires, no start. 6-8 minutes later after I have pulled it up on dry land and getting ready to drive off, thought I would see if it would start and it did. Took it to town, fired off just fine.
Now the other day on the lake you could start it and drive maybe 30 yds and die, just like kill switch engaged came loose. Start maybe 5 minutes later, drive 1/2 mile and die. Did this 5-6 times then started just fine most of the day until time to go to ramp and then would not start, but after 5-7 minutes it would.
Here’s what have done trying to chase down issue. Replaced ignition switch and wired the same way as it was, started fine, but next day it didn’t. Replaced starting battery, started fine. Replaced kill switch, worked fine for awhile.
Pulled off the cowl to by-pass ignition switch at dash and tried a remote start, would not start. Pulled 1 plug to check for spark fired off immediately.
I have wiggled wires from one end to the next without dragging them completely out.

To isolate, when it's on a no start situation, unplug the main harness and jump it at the motor (solenoid). If it runs then you know it's not at the motor but in the box or harness.

You will have to plug it back in to turn it off.
