Hello,

First of all, I am not a mechanic. I have had this motor for 4 years and get it serviced regularly, etc. I just had the shift cables replaced and the lower unit oil changed. Motor has been running strong for about 1 month. Had it out on the lake yesterday and it would not start, usually starts right up. Appears to be turning over but won't fire. If I can get it to "semi-turn" I have to give it gas with the throttle in hopes of starting. I was able to do this and thought everything was fine, but then had the same issue further away from the ramp. Once I got it started again, I headed home.

The motor will quit at about half throttle, just dies, so if I am in a no wake zone, it will die.

Once on trailer, I tried to start the motor and it seemed to backfire and shot water from the prop out about 10-15 feet.

I hope this is not a expensive problem, I was hoping this motor would hold out at least one more year.

Any thoughts on this before I take to the shop? Labor is $60/hr. Thanks.
