I have a few days to figure out what the problem is before I leave town. Any help would be much appreciated. I don't know a whole lot about these outboards so laymans terms please.

Alright, I have a Mariner 90hp 3cyl outboard that I believe is from 1995 or somewhere around there. It is not getting any spark on any of the 3 plugs. This boat was sitting all winter up here in alaska and the switch box (oem:18495A10) appears like it seperated during the winter ie. not fully sealed anymore.

I think this is probably the problem but i don't know much about these things. I am guessing all 3 coils didn't go out at the same time.

Is there anything else I should check? Any tests that will tell me if it is the switch box or not that is busted?

Again, thanks in advance for any help. In kind of a bind here.

-usaok2

I don't know if there is a kill switch on this model. I can't find one anyways.

It uses a key to start it remotely.

I talked with someone today who said it might not be the switch box.

Noone knows anything out there?

Check the following(not necessarily in this order). Please reference a good manual for the specific tests to perform on your engine.
1.) Mercury Switch(round canister near the switchbox) has a black/yellow wire. It's function is to kill the ignition when the engine is titled above a certain angle.

2.) Stator
3.) Trigger
4.) Coils

If all test good than your switch box is most likely at fault.

Let us know how it goes and good luck!

Your motor must have a kill switch. Everything made in the last 15years at least has one. If your motor is console operated then the kill switch is usually incorporated in the throttle/shift control. In some cases the kill switch is dash mounted. Give more details.
