What / Where is the power source of the control box tilt and trim?
The tilt switch does not "work" (remote at the motor works), when I traced the wiring harness, it ends with a 3 prong plug, not connected to anything. I've read where power to the tilt n trim motor comes from the start solenoid (?).
I was told the tilt switch worked prior to my purchasing the boat.
For starters, I need to know the source of 12v to the tilt motor from the control box switch.
Thanks

Because I started chasing why nothing was connected to the 3 prong connector.

Are these connectors used for the tilt function from the control box?

That first picture above shows the only plug in at motor with 5 pin outs and wire colors I'm sure are for the trim switch. What color wire would go in the correct pin?
On another thought...and I don't care if the motor remote switch works if the one on the control box does.
Do you think I could run wires in series with trim switch on motor ?

Ahhhhhh
This might be key to the color coding pinouts

Use the red , green and blue in that 5 pin plug.!----The other 2 wires are for a trim gauge.-----Wiring is simple work , in my opinion.

Yeah I can do that, unfortunately they're aren't a lot of radio shack stores to get the exact connectors that would fit easily.
What do you think about wiring in series downstream of the motor tilt switch?

Oh yeah , guess I can cut the connector plug off in the motor, but it's already grounded, so I might be better off trying to find pins

You are making it difficult for yourself !!-----Not sure why simple wiring is not well understood.------You have to connect the red from the motor to the red at the control.-----You have to connect blue to blue.----Green to green.----Done !

I finally got the correct wiring size and shrink tubing connectors and wired in. Works great.
Any reason to be concerned about the "tan or black" lead in the 5 pin connector on the motor, which I believe tan wire is to ground?
Thanks for your help. I'm glad I didn't get paid by the hour to finally resolve the issue.
I wish the guy I bought it from, had just said it didn't work for him, instead saying yeah it worked for me.

Ooops, sorry I just re-read your previous reply that the other two wires in the.plug were for a trim gauge.

I’d like to tap the knowledge of this thread. I am adding power tilt trim to my 91 Johnson J50JEI. I am ordering all of the parts right now.

Below is a picture of the handle cover and wiring I’ll buy, a diagram, and my control box. What does connector 71/72 plug into?

Plus this is my first post here!

It plugs into a wire that goes to the motor wiring.----Should be easy to figure out if read all the posts in this thread.-----You must be kidding if you are willing to buy new parts for that kind of money.
