I bought this boat about 3 years and didnt have the knowledge to know that a wood floor meant that someone had probably redone the floor. When my gas guage went out and I went to replace it this is what I found. IMG_1958 (1280x853).jpg IMG_1964 (1280x853).jpg IMG_1965 (1280x853).jpg IMG_1972 (1280x853).jpg IMG_1973 (1280x853).jpg

Needless to say there is a lot of Rot going on in there. So now I pose to eve ryone out there, should I trya nd restore the floor, sell as is adn hope I get some of my money back, or sell off as peices? What do you think?

Re: 1994 Wellcraft Elcipse 196S floor restoration

Welcome to iboats. What kind of condition is the hull and motor in?

A restore to the interior, done yourself, will cost $2000-$6000, depending on what you do. from the photos, looks like you need to do a transom/stringers/floors/interior repair. Whether it is worth doing will depend on the condition of the rest of the boat, and whether you want to put the time and money into it. take a look through the restoration threads, to see if you are willing to do the work involved, and have the $$$ to do it.

In its current condition, its worth very very little, assuming that the hull is good, and the motor is running. If you have good parts on it, you could part it out, and maybe make better money than selling it whole, but the value of this is impossible to guess without knowing what parts, what kind of condition they are in, etc. etc.

Peter,

Thanks for the info, the boat itself is still in good condition. The hull probably needs a new gel coat job, because it is very dull and I haven't been able to buff a shine back to it. The engine is a 1994 5.0 305 Mercruiser with Alpha one out-drive in great condition. The motor starts up on first crank and does not have any problems. It also has a Airborne Wakeboard tower with two speakers. I have all the interior which is still in good condition. I just took them out for the picture. All the seats and covers still have the original material. From what I have been reading it looks like I might be better off selling in pieces rather than as a whole. I am getting ready to deploy for 6 months so I don't have time to do a restoration. It would only be the stringers and floors, but from what I have read that will take some time. Do you know where I can find out how much the engine is worth?

Respectfully,

Chase
