1994 Glastron 3.0gl mmda with sx drive engine replacement

Rod or bearing knock after overheating. Need to think about engine replacement. Can someone point me to a reference as to what engines are a direct swap with this drive. SX-ST drive. Thanks.

or spend $1100 and rebuild yours. talk to your local machine shop

Should have worded my question better. Can I go to a 4.3 with this drive. Merc engine, any other omc, largest volvo engine etc..

Ayuh,.... If ya go with a motor other than another 3.0l, ya need different gear ratios in the outdrive, so it can run with one of the standard available prop pitches, which run from 'bout 15" to 23",....

Gear ratios in a nutshell, for Mercs anyways are,....
3.0l, 1.98:1
4.3l, 1.84:1, or more popular, 1.65:1,....
V-8s are usually 1.50:1, or maybe a 1.65:1 with a 5.0l in a big heavy hull,....
