1994 Force 120 - no power at throttle - help

I have a 94 bayliner with a Force 120 engine. I bought it from a friend, who said it just didn't have any power when given gas. He had a local marine rebuild the carbs, and I bought it. I put fresh gas in it and took it out and the carb work didn't work. It'll start fine and idle around fine, but when given half or more throttle, it just won't plane out. It DID the first time I took it out for 30 minutes, but hasn't since. It's getting fuel it seems, the bulb stays firm, and all the lines are new. I did notice after coming home this last trip out, that the #2 plug down is clean, and when I touched the boot to it when running it shocked me. I replaced the voltage regulator with no change. Could it be a simple plug boot that I need? If not, what, coil, or CDI module? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Brandon

Replace wires and plugs. It might be a fouled plug or wire.

I was under the impression these wires weren't changable, without coils? What plugs/wires are recommended?

Thanks.. I put new plugs and plug boots on, and it didn't shock me when touching the boots. I took it to the lake, and lo and behold it climbed to 40mph and planed out.. Then, it just slowly dropped down to 10-12 mph.. It wouldn't go back above 10mph.. I put a gallon of gas/oil in a jug and fed it through that so it's not the gas, it didn't change anything.. Each coil is definately firing, my spark indicator has bright blue flame, and my finger felt it before I changed the plug boots (YIPES!).. I dropped it off at the Marina, but it'll be 10+ days before they can look at it, any more ideas?

Do you have the carb covers on? When I took mine off and ran it the engine would do the same as yours, once I put them back on it ran great:

Well, according to the shop it's in, my local marina had sold me the wrong plugs for one. Secondly, my water pump is weak and needs replaced (I don't doubt that, the motor got warm quick), and lastly, my carbs have an issue and he recommened ANOTHER rebuild, although they were rebuilt last year.. Total damage with labor will be $430. Any ideas why these carbs would need another rebuild? Could the engine warming up quickly cause the motor not to run above 10mph? It ran slow even when I first put it in the water, not after the engine warmed up. Ideas anyone?

Thanks
Brandon
