First time on this forum, I purchased a 1994 Astro S-18FS last year (May 2022) and had a mechanic (friends dad) who works on boats for a living, give it a once over and tell me what needed to be done to have it ready to use. He cleaned and tuned the carbs, replaced the gas bulb, and completed an oil change. Took it out in Sept 2022 and it ran for 10 minutes before going into limp mode. Had to thankfully troller motor it back. Dropped it off that day and replaced the stator. Tried to leave the boat ramp NOV 2022 and it wouldn't go as it was a throwing an over heating code. It has sat since and he has taken my money and my patience. I checked over stuff myself and I saw that the spark plugs were regular automotive and not flat quiksilver ones so I replaced those. Trying to get it ready for the summer now and I have no spark whatsoever. It has. 115 mercury two stroke on it. My question is what can I do to trouble shoot why there is no spark to the spark plugs now, is there a kill switch on these boats because I can't find anything on these boats anywhere, and is there a fuse box anywhere on these boats cuz I can't find that either. It ran FEB 2023 but now it won't even turn over while cranking it..thanks for any and all tips..I'm no.bost mechanic, haven't even been on the water yet but I don't quit and I love to learn .

Well the boat that the engine is on is not nearly as relevant as the engine itself. We need to know the engine. There are an immense amount of completely different firing systems that would fall into the "2-stroke 115 Mercury" category. What is the serial number/model number? Model year? Pictures of the engine? All things we would need to know to get you started diagnosing.

The tether is the kill switch or man overboard kill switch
Ok I can look at that. It took me forever to find it yesterday just to see there is a black covering on the right side of the controller under the key that has a kill toggle switch but you can even get a finger in there to kill it if you wanted. It's in the up position which I am not sure if that means kill or not. I can't find a boat manual anywhere for this boat or what model number that quiksilver controller is

No that's the neutral safety switch and it's not your problem

Sounds like you may not have a kill switch. The kill switch gets a tether (lanyard) attached to it and other end is attached to the driver. If the drive falls overboard it pulls cord and kills the motor

Yeah I have not been able to find one of those or the fuse box..I have a spare fuses section where the batteries are but no fuse box anywhere on this boat

How do you choke tat motor? Do you push the key in? How did you check for spark? Have you done a compression test. You need to buy the factory manual for your motor

So choke is pushing the key in. My buddy and I pulled the spark plug, and while I started it he held it close to the block and said no spark was being emitted. Compression reads 130 on the cylinders. It ran in February after messing with it and has sat until now.

Any suggestions on a manual? I see the factory seloc one but a buddy keeps pushing me towards the quiksilver service manual

That switch under that little cover is your Deadman switch. Only get the factory manual for that motor. It will also cover the 2+2 operation
