1993 Johnson V-4 120 Impellar problem

For some reason I can not get the impellar off the drive shaft. Anyone
have a easy solution.

PB Blaster may help, but;

If the impeller is corroded onto the shaft, you can cut it off.

First, try holding the driveshaft firmly in place while turning the impeller sharply in a clockwise direction; an extra set of strong hands will help.

If you find that you have to cut the impeller, use a dremel or similar to make a starting cut at the recessed point on the impeller where the key goes, then drive a small cold chisel into the cut. The metal is fairly brittle and will part easily so you don't need a lot of force.

If you grease the shaft under the impeller with a litlle Triple Guard Grease, the next replacement will be easier.

You can't get it to move at all, once your remove the impeller housing and cup ... or you can't get if off the end of the driveshaft?

Has the impeller key partially or totally sheared?

The impellar wont move at all once I took the pump housing off. I thought
maybe It had to be lined up. I'll try PB Blaster.

when they say "key" it is not like a woodruff key
It is shaped like a 1/4 moon that is thicker on one edge than the other
the tighter it is turned to pump the tighter the wedge action
hold your drive shaft and turn the impeller in the reverse rotation
to release wedge action and it will slip off easily
