i am getting ready to rebuild my johnson j150elatr. The block cracked on my original engine. I called ********** and i know that the 150 block is obsolete. I am aware that they are the same block as 175. i gave them my original block part number(432999) they sent me a replacement block part number (438906). The new block i have gotten from ********** look the same except if you are looking at the cylinder holes on the right side there is a nipple at the top of the block where the rectifier screws in the block and another nipple almost at the bottom of the block to the left of the bottom cylinder hole. I have done some research on this and this seems to be a evinrude ficht block. I know that this block served many years and many models and from what i have researched these nipples are for a water vapor seperator. My 1993 johnson did not have a water vapor seperator on it. So my question is can i use this block? I have ordered all new rings, gaskets, etc. For my application can i just run a hose from one nipple to the other like a bypass more or less or can i just plug those nipples? Any thoughts or anyone run into this before?? thanks.
