Due to a lack of power in my motor recently and frequent stalling when starting I decided to replace my head gasket. Now that I am putting it back together I am looking for the torque specifications for the cylinder head bolts. I bought an online manual and I cannot find them. Much appreciated if you could provide those specs. Model J15EETB.

The motor hadn‘t been serviced in at least ten years and it was stalling out at low speeds coming to shore. I took it to the dealer and they adjusted the idle. They suggested changing the head gasket due to low compression. I didn’t want to pay the $350 so I took the boat out 4-5 times and it ran great. Then it started to stall at starting and had loss of power. I did another compression test and it was 50 - 50 in both cylinder. So now I have it all apart and am ready to put back together. Just need to know the torque value.

Also, i watched a YouTube video (
) and the mechanic suggested 20 lbs, my dealer suggested 25-27 lbs and my manual had a bolt size/thread size of 28 lbs. As someone who has never done anything mechanical I just want to know the exact torque value.

???----Your bolts are NOT -----7/16"-----Well the wrench you use might be 7/16".-----The bolts are 5/16" mate !!!!----And the threads in the block are aluminum.

That makes sense. Not knowing anything (about mechanics) is the range on the table for 5/16 then between 13 and 19?
