another five or six inches of water. The kill switch closes the circuit (grounds out the coils) when the red button is "in". When it's held out by the lanyard clip, the ignition is not shorted out -- motor operates.

Don't rev in the barrel, al least for anything but a short burst or two. Check temp on top of head -- 160F is too hot and will be too hot to comfortably touch.
Thank you for the insight. I actually read the part about not revving in neutral earlier today (but after my video haha). Hoping to not need the barrel again anytime soon, but I will definitely put it deeper if I do need it again.

Btw, after seeing a YouTube video of a guy running his 1991 model, and seeing a telltale stream, I got to looking further and found a hole that I ran through with wire. Boom... telltale open. So much to learn on this little motor. Every other outboard I've ever owned that had a telltale had a water hose going to a nipple under the hood. This one is apparently just forged in.

Wanted to update you and the others. My new stop/kill switch I ordered from this site came today, and it's now installed. Fairly easy process, until the end. Feeding the cable through the casing that holds it and the throttle cable was easy, by taping the new one to the old and pulling it through. I didn't have a pin puller/installer for the amphenol plug, so I just spliced into the old one. The hard part was getting my fingers back behind the huel pump to install the ground (red arrow). Not even that, but some sort of cable from the post where the throttle cable first attaches (yellow arrow) is attached to the same ground screw, and when you finally manage to finagle your fingers and the screw (with the kill ground and that cable attached) to the block...the cable tension makes it flip off, throwing the screw. There were numerous cuss words at this stage. But... finally got it done, and by golly, IT WORKS. I have spark!!

Looks like you have a fine looking outboard.

Next time, and let's hope you never need to, two screws removes the fuel pump giving you plenty of clearance.

Enjoy.
