1993 25 hp Johnson

I have a 1993 25 hp Johnson model is j25ret short shaft lower unit froze up i have a lower unit off a 1994 long shaft 25 hp how do i get the shaft out to exchange them help me please

After you get the water pumps off the shafts should just pull out of the lower units.

You will also need to swap out the shift shaft on that model? It's been a while since I had one of the little ones apart and can't remember.

No need to change the shift rod at all.

If you are into flipping motors, might try to just bolt up the replacement l.u. A longshaft might be attractive to someone ('toons for example). Include the old l.u. for parts.

Best to mount it stable vertically in a vise or whatever you have, then do as Boobie said above. Put a little lube on the new driveshaft.
