Hello,
I use these motors to troll on Lake Erie at around 800 to 1000 rpms to troll while fishing. I only run one motor while trolling. I try to rotate motors to distribute run hours. I troll on weekends say 4 - 5 hours a day.
My question is there any special spring maintenance that needs to be done to to all the low rpm trolling I do?
I lay up with antifreeze and lower unit oil in fall and have marina tune up motors each spring which they say consist of all new plugs, new fuel filter in motor and water separator filter, carb adjustment and timing. They also check charging output, water pump.
Reason Im asking is I had two people tel me I should buy a kicker motor for the boat because those engines dont like long periods of low rpm's. I premix all fuel 50:1 and use Mercury premium synthetic oil. Thanks for your input.
