1992 mercruiser 3.0 idle issues

I have a 3.0 that i cant get to idle properly, it will run only when throttle is increased. Ive checked the following.
Compression is good and even across the board.
Good spark/new spark plugs
Drop tested each cyclinder and they all drop the RPM so its firing on all 4.
Im running it off a Jerry tank and it has fresh fuel in it
Initial timing was set at 0 degrees and ive back it off to 8 degrees BTDC

The previous owner stripped and twisted the fuel line and wrecked the fuel inlet for the carb so it has a new to it fuel line and a new remanufactured carb on it, and new base gasket. I tried setting the fuel screw to the 1 1/4 initially and have screwed it outwards and still no difference. Only was to get it started is by using the accelerater pump but once backed off to idle it will sputter and die. Im at a lost what else it could be. Only thing i havent checked is a intake gasket vacuum leak? Or do these valves need to be adjusted? Im pretty sick of working on her ha, any help would be appreciated

What is the serial number?
Compression is good-what were the numbers?

Only thing i havent checked is a intake gasket vacuum leak?

The numbers are all in a tight window, that is good.

Your gauge is either reading 30 psi high or you have water or oil in the bores

Where did you source the carb?

You either have water in the cylinders, your gauge is damaged or those are numbers pulled out of somewhere

Looks like the serial number range (1990 to 1994) can have points 8*, DDIS 8* or EST 1* ignition (using jumper).

Check for vacuum leak

Carb was sourced from a company here in winnipeg. It does have the points ignition system. Spark plugs came out all used and old but none had the clean look of water in the cylinders. Engine oils dirty but no signs of water in it. All the carb gaskets are new so what other gaskets are prone to leak on. I've worked on lots of outboards but this is my 1st inboard

All I've done with the distributor was loosen the bolt and adjust the timing to 8degrees at idle. Can you run me through servicing the points and checking for dwell

To me is sounds like you have trash in the idle jet. Even new carbs can have trash in them, it makes it idle too lean.

Are you making adjustments on the carb while in the water and underway?
Carb won't adjust properly on muffs or in a tank. Spray some carb cleaner around intake gaskets to check for leaks. Try another compression gage, your numbers are way high.

That is NOT properly servicing the points. File them, then set dwell, then adjust timing
