Hello all,

I recently purchased a 1992 blazer bass boat and the outboard has 150 hp plates on it but I was told that it was a 175 hp does anyone know how I can tell what hp it is?

The serial number can be looked up to verify what you have.

What outboard is it ? Merc v6 2 stroke ? I think the 150 would be a 2.0. The 175 might be a larger engine.

The early 175s were 2 liter, in 1982(when Merc started Prop Rating their 6 Cylinder motors), the 175 had the 2.4 liter block

Most 150s, Crank or Prop rated, were 2 liter, however in the late 90s there were some 150s that were 2.4 liters.

Excellent info. Yeah. I was aware that some later 150 were larger things. Think the tell tale was having vents on the hood perhaps. Not sure
