I am trying to changing the trim motor on my Johnson 1992 120.
I would like to know if I can do this by removing the engine from the transom a few inches to get at that one hard to get at bolt or remove the two pins on the trim unit and remove the hole trim unit.

Thanks DBR

The best approach is usually to remove the motor from the boat and have it hanging on an engine hoist. This way will allow you to get at everything.

i have a tree limb right behind where i park my boat. its the perfect height for a chain and a come-along..........i can just unbolt the motor and let it hang behind my boat.....no need to dig out the cherry picker.

as long as you dont get too wild you can do it this way and you wont have to disconnect anything....but if you do- the steering cable and transom bracket can be easily done while the eng is in this position.
