1992 9.9 Johnson 2 Cycle Runs Only if Choked

This is a long shaft Sail Master 2 cycle with electric start. Only runs with the choke half way out. Will some times idle a litte but dies if an load. Starts easy on the choke. Has some power and lugs with the choke out, smokes a lot and uses a lot of gas. Compression test show #1 70 psi and #2 75 psi. What should the compression be? Carburator was reworked after finding a jell in the fuel screen. That did not do any good.

sounds like you still have a carb issue. by pulling the choke it bypasses normal carb circuits and pulls fuel past the mainjet directly into the carb venturi. in other words your forcing it rich.
