1992 60hp power pack test ?

Okay so the motor has run great ever since I re did the carbs this last winter. Took it out almost every weekend since march. Last time I got to the landin it would turn over fine and got gas to the pistons it just doesn't have the spark. I've visually inspected the stator not falling apart or Even any corrosion on it. I took the power pack off(583748) and inspected everything.. I noticed one of the wire prongs have a little corrosion on itself that leads to the stator I believe. But other than that no cuts or burs in any wires. I'd like I say it's the power pack seeing these have a bad rep. (I've changed my 15hp powerpack twice in 2 years) but is there an easy way I can use an ohm meter to test this pack on the work table? Thanks everybody.

the power pack produces DC voltage it converts the AC power coming from the stator into the power pack , [ the coil just boots this power up ] what you can do is make sure the battery is fully charged as a low rpm will not give you correct readings , the one wire coming from the power pack going to the coil disconnect it at [ before ] the coil place a multimeter on this wire & the other wire on the earth coming from power pack the reading should be more than 150 DC volts at cranking as the rpm increases when the motor starts so does the voltage

An ohmmeter will not give you a definitive diagnosis. You must give the pack what it needs, and if it doesn't function properly......pitch it.

It needs:

-Good Ground
-good connections
-non shorted kill wire
-proper charge voltage from stator
-proper timer voltage from timer
-good coils

Check the above first. You will need a DVA adapter for your DMM to check stator and timer accurately.
Packs are hard to test on the bench without the above.
