Hi I have a question about my outboard it's a 1991 mariner 115 can anyone tell me if it has any alarms and if I should keep the oil injection or switch it to premix. Also we're they reliable outboards. Thanks
If it is the old Mercury Autoblend system I know they can be prone to failure. You would probably be safest mixing your own. Is this the 6cylinder? I think they made a 6 and a 4. I had an 89 and had to bypass the mixer.
I have a 1993 115 and had it for seven 7 only had to replace power pack and rebuilt carbs other than that no probs, i love it it does'nt have any alarms and i left the oil premix alone
Personal preference...I bypassed mine because the 89 model had no alarms ect. I have read about the Oil premix from those generations being prone to failure and with out an alarm I chose to bypass it for peace of mind. Great little motors though. Mine screamed at about 5100 rpm's Redline if I remember right is about 5600 on those motors. Again mine was a 6 cylinder.
