I had a senior moment and crossed the battery cables while installing a new battery in my 1991 Trophy with a 150 HP Force. The key was off, but it immediately fried the Converter box. I replaced the converter, and just now started the motor. It's been sitting for several years. It needs a water pump impeller and overheats, so I can't run it for more that a few seconds.
The Tachometer now is inoperative. What else did I blow?? :(

voltage rectifier.
Thanks, Roscoe. I did some research, and it all indicated you're right. I started the motor for a few seconde, and the volt meter moved from about 13V to 14.5 when I ran it up from idle to about 1/2 throttle. I'm hoping the rectifier/regulator it still OK. The Tach is pegged at 6K, however and doesn't move.

Man! I hate getting old.

I got there before you. Fuses--I had three, one at the battery and two under the dash.

I’ve had a senior moment back when I was doing a rebuild and something I did had fried my tach rectifier temp gauge so I read somewhere or maybe someone suggested putting an inline fuse from ignition to all instruments-my two cents
