Floor gave up last year, I think the foam is holding water and the windshield is loose. Been reading posts on here for about a year and now it's time (whether I'm ready or not) to get started on my rebuild.

Appears I'm still struggling with the pictures, I'm down to the foam & am surprised, I expected to see something crappy but all looks fine. Last summer when we were out we had a 2 inch rain in the night & the boat listed to the side the rest of the week. I just figured the foam soaked up a bunch of water. I wish I'd have weighed it, but never did. Has foam changed in the last 30 years?? Maybe I just need to tear out a chunk & see what it looks like on the bottom. I'll keep working on the pictures, never had this trouble before, might be my work computer, they installed a bunch of limits on it a few months ago. Normally I put pictures in Photo Bucket & go from there but I can no longer access that site.

Howdy. Double howdy for pictures. LOL

Look at Bondo's signature for what PB has done to us.

One thing you can do because water seeks the lowest level, the bottom of the foam, is core sample the foam. Use a piece of sharpened PVC pipe or a metal thin walled pipe and force it through the foam until it hits the hull. Pull it out and check for wet foam. If it's dry in all the places you probe, good. Wet foam never drys, just gets wetter.

What is hanging on the rope? Dashboard?

They ended up looking like this, which leads me to believe my foam is perfectly OK. Which is good, but does not explain my listing problem last year. Ideas on the listing are welcome.

So my next move-- refill holes in foam with new expanding foam--- cut 1/2" marine plywood to fit, screw it down & coat with epoxy resin. question?? Should I do both sides or leave the bottom so it can breath. Another question, were is the best place to order hardware? self tapping screws, stainless bolts, nylon nuts, ect.
Also, where is the best place to order carpet & does a guy go with 20 oz.??

Got rid of some glue today!! Ordered some composite samples last week, hope to be able to use them for the dash. Epoxy resin should show next week also -- plenty to do, sure will be nice to start putting together, seems like there is always more to take off

Still not satisfied foam was good in the bottom so I did a little test & weighed the plugs I took out & put them in a jar of water for a week. When I took them out they were saturated--not sure if the test was viable or not, but the foams coming out!!!

Going to fit the floor before I tear out the foam. Was going to screw it down but now I think I'll rivet the floor down. I plan on covering with epoxy after it 's installed so thought rivets would be easier to remove than screws If some poor soul has to replace what I've done sometime in the next 30 years

100_1938.JPG Been a bit, just epoxy going on floor boards & normal spring chores taking over. Today however I started taking out the foam even though the plugs I pulled out looked good. This boat has been in a heated garage since last July, if you look close you can see the water in the pictures. The foam I took out in that area was surprisingly heavy. Glad I decided to replace it.

Foam is all out!!!! WOW what a job, still nervous about putting foam back , I hate the idea of cutting the top off but it looks like that's the way it's going to be 100_1940.JPG100_1942.JPG

Played with some of the foam today, lessons learned, 80 degrees is probably a minimum, when pouring a lager batch it gets really hot ( will melt bead board) I tried using bead board for filler, planed on taking it out to open channel in center--this turned into a tough job. Foam can basically get wherever water could get. When the foam grows it has a mind of it's own & goes where it wants to go. Looks like I'll be pouring & cutting off the top--still not thrilled with that application 100_1943.JPG

didn't like pouring foam & trying to get close to the top, right or wrong I put in a sub floor of blue foam board, there is a learning curve but I think I'll have the hang of it by the time I'm done!! 100_1945.JPG100_1946.JPG100_1947.JPG
