Well, The boat may wander a little at low speeds. Especially if there is wind. Is there play in the drive? The drive will move excessively without moving the steering wheel?
If you have the right prop, you can see where your WOT is. I think 4300-4600 is the right range.
Filters: Oil Filter and water seperator filter. Both are physically similar.
Are you talking about trim tabs or outdrive tilt and trim?

To check the Water pump in the stern drive, separate the lower unit from the upper unit and there it is. It must be put in with the blades on the impeller bent in the same direction.
I would suggest you at least buy a seloc manual or clymers. I have both and always consult both manuals before trying anything. The best thing would be a factory service manual. I've found the aftermarket manuals to be fine for anything I would attempt. I leave the tough stuff to the professionals.

well my new 18 foor jet boat wanders a bit soyou have to keep it corrected but this boat is all over the place. I mean youre constantly catching it from left to right. I just cant find a spot in middle to keep it there and just keep it straight with small corrections like my boat. I think there is some play but not sure cause I cant see the steering wheel when im moving it by hand.

Im not sure if right prop is on there, he just went and bought first 3 blade prop he saw.

ok so there is only two filters, no I just need to find out where to buy them.

Im gonna take a day and check the water pump, he said he couldnt put it in when he was doing it so Im afraid he might have done something stupid.

I'll search for the manuals but where di you buy yours?

Its trim tabs that are not working, outdrive tilt and trim is working.

I'm really not sure what is causing the boat to swerve. If the drive is sloppy and moving side to side on it's own, that might do it.
For the filters. The 350 just takes the PF1218 AC Delco filter or equivilent.
For the fuel filter, get the number and the dealer, west marine, or even NAPA should be able to get you one.
I got one of my books from ebay and the other at a bookstore. Barnes and Noble I think.

I will look through my pdfs and see if I can find something on the water pump for you.

A Friend and I have just purchased a 1990 220 Sundancer. We paid a bit over the top but it seems a jewel. It has had one owner from new and kept inside, all extras with it, The 110volt generator had a problem but we replaced it with 2 batteries and a 3000 watt inverter. We paid $15000 for it, a bit high but seems that we found a great boat, it has 320 hours on the 5.7 V8, We have been making adjustments to raise the back seat as its a bit uncomfortable for our wives, we have made a detatchable back rest for it as well, also a boulster for the drivers seat so that it can be perminently flipped over.

That looks nice

We took ours to The Indian River with 10 of us, yes 10. it planed at 35mph and held nice at 4ooo rpm, it was a bit overloaded really but it seemed to handle it ok.

Went back to Melbourne this weekend, just 6 of us this time, 4 adults and 2 kids. Planed nicely at 29mph at 3000 RPM, it seems to be getting beter each time out, maybe I am getting used to the Boat now. I also have a Tahoe Q4 sport with the V6 Engine. drives very different.

Carl, your modifications sound similar to what I'm doing to my 220DA... raised the back seat a couple inches (just barely fits folded now).
Do you have any pictures of what you did for a removable backrest and driver seat boulster? I've been tossing around ideas on how to do that...

I will get you some, its a sort of a bed headboard Idea and a box section to lift the back seat up but it can still be put back in the original place. the driver section is like a bench that we made, it sits on a 7 inch pedestal at each end and has a good 6inches or so of padding then we covered it, no back rest for the driver so i am working on that one at the moment. It does make more seating available at all times and the bench at the transom is much more comfortable.

Re: 1990 searay 220 DA 5.7L

Picking up my first SeaRay @ the end of the month. 1990 220DA 5.7. I have plenty of questions I'm sure before I'm done but the immediate question is this. I live in Venice, FL and will be wet slipping my boat for the summer season for the first time. All others have stayed @ the house on a trailer. Are there any particular things with the DA that have issues with prolonged exposure to the water during summer. Note; It will be used 1 to 2 times a week respectively. What should I expect/prepare for when wet slipping it. Any other tips are appreciated as well for a first time SeaRayer and up to this point owner of only smaller CC boats is appreciated. Will upload pics of boat as soon as it is delivered.

P.S. Got a seriously sick deal on it, repowered w/new motor/outdrive in 08'

Re: 1990 searay 220 DA 5.7L

Howdy,

I am looking to buy the following Sea Ray 220DA. What is the stock motor for this model. I took it for a ride yesterday and it runs great. The hull and seats are in fine shape. Needs a little TLC in small areas but nothing I cannot do myself. I booked this on Nada and it seems this price might be a little high....it has no canvas..other then the bimini top.

Please let me know what you think and what I should look for? I was going to offer him $5k
