Re: 1990 Seanymph 16ft sportfisher Complete rebuild

The boat has been working great. I have had it out a dozen times already chasing walleye on the Detroit river. I am excited to announce that there have been no major surprises. Every item I have fixed or installed has been working flawless. Knock on wood... I don't really have any good pics of it but will work on that in the next few weeks. Thanks for all the help

Just went through your thread Voodoo. Impressive work! Hopefully I can get back to my rebuild soon, if work leaves me alone, I get my spring chores done, and I can get off my butt when I have a chance. One question concerning the deck screws. I'm uncertain if the deck screws should be exposed to allow for removal if required or installed before the Nautalex making it quite permanent. What was your decision based on?

I ended up riveting the majority of the plywood down. I had to countersink the rivet heads and fill the holes so the flooring was flat. I decided to do this because that was what the factory did and a rivet will be much stronger then a screw. I would look at your project and ask yourself what do I need accesses to once the flooring is in. On my boat that was the fuel talk and live wells. The fuel tank inspection panel is held down with large #10 stainless screws. I countersunk the mounting holes so after I installed the flooring all I needed to do was drill a small hole in the nautolex. This made the screw pull the nautolex into the countersunk hole and looks clean. I can post some more photos of it if so you can get a better idea of what I mean.
