I am thinking about looking at a 1990 Sea Ray 250 Weekender. I cannot find this model on Sea Ray's website. I had looked at a 1992 270 weekender last year. The 250 looks to be a very similar boat. Does any one know if the 250's are the same as the later 270's? I know Sea Ray changed the way the designate boats in the early 90's. Any help would be appreciated.

very possible, even different MFGRs measure differently some add the swim platform and pulpit, and count that in their length.

The model you are looking for should be called a 250 Sundancer. You are talking about an express cruiser style boat, right? Cause that's what the 270 was, the 270 Sundancer.

Re: 1990 Sea Ray 250 weekender

I can say this from my experience. The older Sea Rays were very different, with only 1 foot difference in the title.

The 25' (250 I believe) Sundancer was much smaller than the 26' (268) Sundancer which was again much smaller than the 27' (270) Sundancer. I had a guy tell me he had a 270, and come to find out it was a 250, very disappointing.

The 25' chould have an 8'6" beam, with the 27' having a 9'6" to 10' beam. Sea Ray people might know better than me!

The old SeaRay 268 was an 8.5' beam, and truly 26' (maybe even 8") long. It's bolt on swim platform and wooden bow pulpit didn't count. If you has to put the boat in a slip, you needed 29'! I know, cause my parents had an 1989 268 Sundancer.

After a bit, the 270 Sea Ray was 27' long, including the molded in swim playform. And they are 9'1" wide. they are also available with twis, and a lot of them got them.

Again all these are Sundancers, not Overnighters or Weekenders.

I found 250 Weekenders with a quick Google . . . No reliable specs though.

It doesn't look like there was a "Weekender" in 1990.

NADA Guides lists all the models for 1990 here:

http://www.nadaguides.com/default.a...4&p=38&f=5694&gc=MR&gtc=MR&m=1410&y=1990&ml=S

SeaRay has a great archive of old models:

In 1990 they had the following

250 Sundancer:

http://www.searay.com/Archives_Manuals/Sea_Ray_Archives/1990/25 feet and below/250DA_SS.pdf

260 Overnighter:

http://www.searay.com/Archives_Manuals/Sea_Ray_Archives/1990/26-35 feet/260OV_SS.pdf

260 Cuddy Cabin:

http://www.searay.com/Archives_Manuals/Sea_Ray_Archives/1990/26-35 feet/260OV_SS.pdf

If I'm not mistaken SeaRay never had a 250 Weekender in the early 90s. You could possibly be looking at a 1989 230 Weekender:

http://www.searay.com/Archives_Manuals/Sea_Ray_Archives/1989/25 feet and below/230WE_SS.pdf

I am no SeaRay expert. I gathered all of this just based on what I can find on the internet.

Well, if NADA and SeaRay don't list them I guess I'm not sure what is going on.

No a 250 would not be the size of a 270. Regardless of us not being able to find Weekender listed in NADA or SeaRay, when SeaRay changed their boat lines around, they changed their numbering system. The boats that end in zeros are "all" the changed boats. Prior to that, SeaRay had numbers like, 245, 268, and such. So a 250 and a 270 of similiar years, would be different. A 250 would be about 25' long, a 270 would be about 27' long.

Re: 1990 Sea Ray 250 weekender

Some information I found...

1992 Sea Ray 270 Weekender:
LOA: 27'
Beam: 8'6"
Draft: 3'
Displ: 5600 lbs

The only weekender I found was from Spain, but the interesting note was the 270 Weekender was only 8'6" wide, and light for a 27 footer. Sea Ray definately made them smaller with the body style change, as the older 27'ers were over 9' wide, and usually twin motors.

So maybe this whole thing goes back to the original question.

Is the 270 Weekender and those labeled a 250 Weekender the same exact boat?

I think they may be.

I'm going to go by my instinct and say no, they are similar with the only real difference being the length and probably the power options.

No Title

I own the 1990 250 Weekender (per the title).

My boat is 27'6" overall length and has a 9' beam. The engine is 100% below the floor, no "dog house" cover. The only difference between the Sundancer and the Weekender is the top half, where the cabin on the Dancer enters to the left and the Weekender in the middle. This allows for the only difference, the aft cabin. Mine has a storage well. Instead of a raised deck, the Weekend is all one level.

I have been trying to figure this out for a while now... what the heck boat do I have??? There is no 1990 listed on Sea Ray's site, but they do have a 270 from 1992 that is identical to the one I have. All the decals, interior specs, and details are exactly the same. There is no difference. If my 250 is actually almost 28' in length, then the argument of the 250 and the 270 being the same boat makes sense.

The 250 Weekend is ACTUALLY a bigger boat than the 268 Sundancer or the 260 Sundancer. My anchor hangs over on a 30' dock, the 268 and 260 have several feet to play with.

I wish someone had an answer to this, I'd love to know what my boat really is. I just tell people I have a 27' Weekender, because that's what it actually is.
