I hope that you learned the very most important lesson, logical and step by step troubleshooting and careful work along the way.
This alone is worth the entire cost of the boat, parts, and time invested.
Go forth and prosper...

I've learned that folks on the internet like to troll and come back weeks later to pick on people who are earnestly trying to learn. No one should be put down for asking questions. I hope you've learned something too. Cheers,

Edit: And BIG thanks to everyone else who helped. I took it out this weekend for our first family outing to a dock/cottage the family has and didn't TOTALLY embarss myself. There is still an electrical short to ground coming off the new coil pack, but I remedied that with some insulator (fish cutting matt roll jammed under, will coat with liquid electrical tape soon). I had a gear slip out but eventually got it. That boat ROARED and we sailed, it was an epic end to boat season.

Now... Googles how to winterize boat

If you feel that way then you have learned little of value.
The most important thing you should have gotten from this is to be polite and follow the advice that is offered to you in good faith.
It seems to me that if you do not change your approach to life it will be fairly difficult in times of trouble.
I don't guess you noted that everyone here had given up on helping you after about post # 74?
You have learned little of value - Grasshopper.

You should run a workshop on life coaching — someone please lock this thread, solution is found, cheers

We don't lock threads. I read the whole thing and you may be too quick declaring it's fixed.

Okay I’m done, I thank all for the help but wow, it’s just not worth it to be here anymore. I’ve tried to be friendly and courteous as I learned, I’m done — hope this helps someone in the future — goodbye.

I hope you do stick around!
You seem like a nice guy and you definitely kept your cool longer than I would have been able to, with all the salty remarks through this post.

Sorry some of you took my comments wrong.
There is more to learn than fixing an outboard, but to each his own.
Learning how to approach problems is far more important than fixing a boat and applies to almost everything.
No one noticed that almost everyone was ready to cut this thread loose?
Sorry I tried to help. Taking a little advice is a small price to pay.
Enjoy your boat. I hope it serves you well.
Don't worry I will not try to help you again.
